[English] Saint – Saints.

The word “holy” without direct connections with other terms in the Old Testamentis very rare. Rather, you could meet with such a determination in relation to end times. In the

Church of the Primacy of St. Peter on the Sea ...

New Testament, this term means the Christians. Initially it was used only with relation to members of the community in Jerusalem, and esp. to a small group who experienced Pentecost. In time it was used against the brothers of Judea, then to all the faithful; Christians participate in the holiness of God through the Holy Spirit.
The holiness of Christians, having a source of God’s choosing, demands from them a complete break with sin and pagan rites. This demand the sanctity of life, is the basis of all Christian ascetic tradition. Not based on the ideal of law, which is something external, but the dedication to the rule of Jesus Christ – Second Divine Person, God IHWH. Read the rest of this entry »

[English] Holy – Holy Spirit.

The main culprit of sanctifying Christians is the Holy Spirit. However, His activity is different from the Old Testament the Spirit of God. Abundance and universality of the gifts of the Holy Spirit means that fulfilled the messianic times from the day of the resurrection of Christ. His coming is associated with faith in the mystery of Christ dead and risen. His presence is persistent, and Paul states that the redeemed are “temples of the Holy Spirit”, “temples of God” (1 Cor 6, 11 20; compare: 1 Corinthians 3, 16 – 17), and that being in real communion with Him. Because “all of which animates the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Rom 8, 14 – 17), hence we can say that Christians are children of God, because of access to the source of the holiness of God. Holy – Sanctifying Christians by Christ.

StJohnsAshfield StainedGlass Baptism

Sacrifice and worship of the Old Testament atonement people only externally, but the sacrifice of Christ sanctifies the faithful, “the truth” this time providing the actual sanctity of nations. By faith and baptism giving “anointing from the Holy”, Christians have a real participation in the life of the risen Christ. Hence the saints are living through the Holy Spirit in them – are “baptized in the Holy Spirit” [see: the dogma of the Trinity in Catholicism], in accordance with what is said, John the Baptist.

===========================

BIBLE

Luke 3, 16
16 John answered, saying unto all: “I indeed baptize you with water; but there shall come one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to loose. He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire;
[“While water signifies birth and the fruitfulness of life given in the Holy Spirit, fire symbolizes the transforming energy of the Holy Spirit’s actions.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 696)]

John 17, 19
19 And for them do I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.

Acts 1, 5
5 For John indeed baptized with water: but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost, not many days hence.

Acts 11, 16
16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how that he said: John indeed baptized with water but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Read the rest of this entry »

Holy – The Sanctity of Jesus.

The Baptism of Christ

Image via Wikipedia

God is holy and that is why the saints should be chosen by Him; and the holiness of his name to be revealed in the coming of His Kingdom. But underlying the New Testament concept of holiness seem to be Pentecost, which is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

Christ‘s holiness is closely linked to his divine sonship and the presence of the Holy Spirit in Him. During the baptism given to Him by John, Jesus Christ receives the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Miracles and teachings of Jesus to be not only admirable character of his power, but rather the words of His holiness; to Him a man feels as a sinner, as against the First People of God: “God – the Father.”

As a “holy servant” of God (Acts 4, 27.30) who died, although the author of life, Christ is the Holy in the full sense of the word; Therefore God exalted Him. Read the rest of this entry »

Holy – ISRAEL MUST sanctify themselves

View from Mount Sinai, Egypt.

Image via Wikipedia

Israel to God‘s desire should respond effort sanctification. Therefore it is important to clean by filling out the appropriate rituals – religious practices (in the catholicism God made purification in man by power of the Holy Spirit during the confession through a priest). This is important because the lack of purification of the “dirt” of sin is lack of co-existence with the holiness of God.
The prophets and Deuteronomy constantly repeating that same sacrifice for sin are not sufficient to please God, you still need justice, obedience and love towards Him. Hence, God’s command: Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »
